The GaiaMind Project

The GaiaMind Project is a not-for-profit trans-denominational effort dedicated to spreading awareness of global meditation and prayers as they arise. We are particularly interested in those which explicitly focus on the tranformation of global consciousness, but we support all posative efforts without regard to content so long as participation is open to all and does not require belief in any particular religion or ideology, including astrology.

In addition to the founders Juliana and Jim, thousands of people worldwide from many spiritual traditions co-created a unique event on January 23rd 1997. Grassroots awareness spread globally as co-creators shared information about the event with others by word-of-mouth, email, fax, mail, community bulletin boards, etc. It has been estimated that millions of individuals and thousands of groups from around the world participated and organized gatherings on January 23rd.

The GaiaMind Project is dedicated to exploring the idea that we, humanity, are the Earth becoming aware of itself. From this perspective, the next step in the evolution of consciousness would seem to be our collective recognition that through our technological and spiritual interconnectedness we represent the Earth growing an organ of self-reflexive consciousness. One of the most effective ways to intentionally participate in this process may be simultaneous global meditations. We hope to serve as a catalyst for global healing by bringing forth practical, creative, spiritually-based solutions to the challenges before humankind and the planet. The Project serves as a bridge to explore the interface between science, medicine, philosophy and the world's spiritual wisdom traditions.
